Training in how to Deal with Conflict

There are many theories on how much of a managers time is spent dealing with the fallout from people being difficult to get along with at work. In fact resolving conflict can account to over 80% of a managers time. To counter this we provide a range of training workshops to reduce this time, by helping people to communicate more effectively. The route causes can be manyfold and not always addressed by training including;

  • A lack of Emotional intelligence
  • Poor Interpersonal effectiveness
  • A lack of self awareness
  • Decreased Motivation
  • Poor attitude to role and work

Our first stage is to recognise the route cause and develop a workshop to address and deal with this. A typical workshop is defined below with additional programmes outlined below this

Understanding and Managing Behavioural Differences

Conflict at work can be a serious matter and we provide training to reduce this and also help people to communicate more effectively. There are few organisations who want senseless automatons who agree with everything so the skill is in creating a culture where debate and challenge is welcomed but open conflict is not. One of the tools we use in our workshops is the SDI® – Strength Deployment Inventory Tool® developed in the USA by Dr. Elias H. Porter.

We have used it successfully in team development, motivation training and also in conflict resolution, to name a few. Because of its accuracy and simplicity the strength deployment inventory is a real pleasure to work with.

One of the causes of conflict is a failure by people to recognise that we react to conflict in different ways. Recognising these conflict patterns early on can allow staff to diffuse and debate, rather than moving into  a more aggressive or submissive stance which could ultimately result in conflict escalation. The SDI® – Strength Deployment Inventory Tool® allows us to do this by breaking down our conflict patterns in detail. The end result is we can manage our own response to conflict and those around us.
